RESEARCH, PERSONA & CONTENT WRITING
Autism is something close to my heart. The subject matter is inspired by a very gifted and talented cousin who has autism. Despite limitation in verbal ability, he communicates with people around him through his world of strikingly colourful artistic creations.
SITEMAP & WIREFRAMES
Site's hierarchy in reference to organization's goal to create awareness about autism by focusing on the artists' strengths rather than what they might not have. It highligted the need as a non-profit to generate donation to support their cause and to run the organization.
Since the 1960s, symbol related to autism is often represented by the jigsaw puzzle piece(s). The origin of this connection was supposed to signify a missing piece in people with autism. This actually portrayed very negatively on them by saying they do not “fit in” a complete puzzle.
Staying away from the puzzle piece symbol, the initial logo design was a looping DNA helix – nothing is missing but a complete circle. However to create a stronger connection between autism and art, it was redesigned as a typographic logo combining “Art” and “Autism”. Hence “Artism” was born.
A great learning experience to plan and develop a responsive site from scratch.VISIT ARTISM
